With everyone's hectic lifestyles and the ever rising cost of baby gear, why not keep it simple? Make a list of guests and in the invitations request that they do not purchase any items for the event. Instead, ask that they contribute a small fee (e.g. $20.00) and ask them to respond to an RSVP. With the accumulated amount of money, purchase the most expensive/or needed items for the parents-to-be. This way it prevents getting double or triple items and the new parents receive good quality gifts. The gifts are given as a group and everyone feels that they have contributed equally!
